Bulletin #120: UN report affirms Israel is targeting children in Gaza to destroy Palestinians' future

A new UN report has affirmed that Israel is targeting children in Gaza and other occupied territories as part of a strategy to destroy the future of the Palestinian people. The systematic devastation of the health system in Palestine – from attacks on key hospitals to the abduction of health workers to the destruction of housing and hygiene infrastructure – has led to unprecedented suffering for a whole generation.
The Ebola outbreak that broke out in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda in May this year could easily become the worst ever, public health experts have warned. Between mid-May and the end of June, the infection had killed at least 360 people and infected over 1,200.
In Venezuela, a deadly earthquake has killed thousands of people, while at least 11,000 have been treated in Caracas' hospitals – themselves operating under enormous strain due to economic sanctions imposed by the United States that hinder the purchase of medical and rescue supplies.
In a new episode of Access Denied, Jyotsna Singh speaks to surgeon Dr. Sanjay Nagral on why India urgently needs a new transplant system. With most transplants in the country happening in private hospitals, costs are currently exorbitant: if the Indian government scaled up transplants in public hospitals, costs could fall to roughly one-third of existing private rates.
